About Us

HELLO AND WELCOME!

We are your hosts and our names are John and Kathleen McLennan and we own and operate our business Goombaragin Eco Retreat. We live on country and we are responsible for the day to day operations of the business.  When you come to Goombaragin, we will personally meet and greet you on arrival, do an orientation of the property with you and show you to your accommodation.  Whether you’re camping or glamping with us, every guest of Goombaragin is treated equally, with respect and are important to us.

We established Goombaragin Eco Retreat as an eco-tourism business in 2006.  It has been a passion of ours and we have been highly active in the local tourism industry and communities in and around the Dampier Peninsula.  We have been directly involved in promoting and supporting tourism and business development on the Dampier Peninsula over many years and continues today.

Goombaragin has progressively grown from humble beginnings and today is one of the well sought-after holiday destinations on the Dampier Peninsula.  It makes us feel proud and happy to know that all of our hard work over the years is slowly paying off and that Goombaragin is getting recognised as a desirable getaway destination in the tourism industry.

The retreat operates 100% on solar power and has a grey and black water recycling treatment plant.  The solar system is a 40kw system which has been installed in 2009.  Goombaragin has internet and phone reception with Telstra 3G and 4G.  We recommend our guests to be self-sufficient with their own data.

The setting up of a small eco-tourism business and an eco-friendly product goes together with caring for country, culture and family.  There is a symbiotic relationship where one is connected to the other.

One of the highlights of a stay at Goombaragin is spending time around the fireplace with us, where we look forward to not only sharing our stories with you but us learning about your stories and your holiday adventure experiences.

We invite you to come and share our home and journey with us.
